Frequently Asked Questions

  • Contrary to popular belief, our ocean expeditions are best experienced on snorkel / freedive as this allows us to keep up with fast-moving animals.

What’s more important is your level of fitness — on an active day, you’ll be hopping in and out of the boat multiple times and swimming to get into position! Every participant must be fit for swimming and snorkeling and expect to spend long hours on boats.

We also believe that the first step toward conservation is breaking down the walls of apathy. By allowing snorkelers to join, this lowers the barrier to entry and democratizes the encounters, encouraging more people to get their feet wet and have the experience of a lifetime.

  • Most of our trips run about a week long. This gives us enough water days and contingencies for any possible weather. While we time our expeditions in the middle of season for each marine event, we are dealing with wild animals, and nature cannot be guaranteed. The more time you spend on the water, the better your chances for incredible encounters!

Depending on the expedition, you may be able to request a shorter trip, though any lost days may not be pro-rated.

  • Usually comfortable 3-4* lodgings or private rental homes in memorable locations around the world. Rooms are based on double-occupancy. Single supplements are available upon request.

  • Our expeditions range from 4-9 guests per boat. We purposefully keep the numbers low so that everyone has the chance to jump into the water at every opportunity, versus having to rotate.

  • The trips are called “ocean safaris” for a reason! This is not a liveaboard with scheduled dives, but a wild adventure. Expect to launch in the morning and spend most of the day at sea, returning in the afternoon when everyone has had their fill and opts to go back to shore. The trips are land-based, meaning you will sleep on land each day.

  • Ocean safari days on the boat, accommodations, guiding, permits, breakfast and boat lunches. Some trips also include dinner. Please contact us for the full list for each trip.

Bonus: you may also have access to some photographs taken by the guides upon request - though this cannot be guaranteed, our guests often come home with incredible images of them with the animals!

  • We recommend to bring your own mask, snorkel, fins, and wetsuit/dive skin if necessary, though rental equipment can be arranged. Please let us know upon booking if you will require rentals.

  • Most places will have access to Wi-Fi in the common areas, though please note that as many trips take place in remote locations, access may be limited.

  • A non-refundable deposit will hold your space on the expedition, with the full balance due at least 4 months prior to the trip. You may also pay in installments. All payments are to be made by Visa or MasterCard.
