Raja Ampat

Embark on an unforgettable scuba diving adventure aboard the Raja Ampat Aggressor liveaboard, where the unparalleled marine biodiversity of this region comes to life. Known as the “Four Kings,” Raja Ampat spans over 1,500 islands and is home to 600 coral species, 1,500 fish species, and more than 600 types of mollusks.

The Raja Ampat itinerary highlights the region’s top dive sites, including Dampier Strait, Fam, Mansuar, and the breathtaking sites of Misool—renowned as Raja Ampat’s premier diving destination. Notable experiences include the manta cleaning station near Mansuar and the mesmerizing schools of fish near Farondi.

Dampier Strait, which separates the Bird’s Head Peninsula from Waigeo and Mansuar, derives its name from the Dutch colonial era, inspired by the peninsula’s shape on the map. Beyond its historical significance, the strait is a haven for rare bird species and a hotspot for marine biodiversity. Here, the convergence of the Pacific Ocean and the Halmahera Sea creates a thriving underwater ecosystem, fueled by strong currents that attract large pelagic species. Divers can encounter manta rays, reef sharks, massive schools of mackerel, tuna, and barracuda, as well as dolphins and whales.

Night diving under the Arborek or Cape Mansuar jetty is a favorite among divers, offering encounters with unique and elusive marine creatures. Wobbegong sharks, epaulette (walking) sharks, nudibranchs, pipefish, seahorses, frogfish, and scorpionfish are just a few of the many fascinating species that can be found in these waters.

Misool, the southeasternmost of Raja Ampat’s four largest islands, is one of the most biodiverse marine environments on the planet. Its rich underwater landscapes feature vertical walls, sloping reefs, submerged pinnacles, caves, and serene lagoons. Some areas are covered in vibrant soft corals, while others showcase thriving hard coral gardens. Known as a hotspot for pygmy seahorses and gorgonians, Misool captivates divers with its sheer abundance of marine life, making every dive an extraordinary experience.
